March 2023 Featured Artist - Sharon Marshall

“To capture a mood, a moment, a memory on which to reflect as a joy and challenge for me. I am continually grateful to be able to share my experiences with others.”

Born in Michigan, I received my BA in art education from Eastern Michigan University. I taught art for 32 years to elementary, middle, and high school, working with every imaginable medium and material. It was such an exciting experience. I also had the opportunity to teach drawing and watercolor at Lansing Community College. In my spare time, I worked in watercolor, and was accepted to juried shows. Among those were Left Bank Gallery, Livonia Invitational, Flint Institute of Art, Lansing Art Gallery, Milford Memories, as well as private showings at Château Lorraine of Mackinac Island.

Watercolor was my chosen discipline for 40 years. However, since moving to Sun City, six years ago, I am enjoying pastel, acrylic and oil. I have always enjoyed all materials and mediums, so I was delighted to join the ceramics and glass crafters clubs. My decision to move here to Sun City has been such a blessing as I have been inspired by so many creative, friendly, warm and incredibly talented people.
